I have a 3 year old 1/4 Lab, 1/4 Golden Retriever, 1/2 Mutt mix who has the worst dog gas I've ever smelt, and his poop wasn't always solid like it should be. Then I have a 3 year old 1/2 rough German Shepherd 1/2 Lab mix who has long shaggy coarse hair (my other 2 have puppy soft hair). After digging in to what I could do for my lab/retriever mix as his gas was to the point where we just could not handle it anymore, and it wasn't the dogs fault at all by no means. And what we could do for my chunky Sheltie. We found that the food we were feeding them was so horrible for them and decided to switch to Diamond Naturals after my research as the food has great reviews and less than $1 per pound. In the couple weeks that I have been feeding my 3 fur babies this food their coats are noticeably softer, they actually don't eat as much as they were when we had them on Purina Dog Chow, and they are all more active. Before my 2 big dogs would play for a little bit and then get tired, they weren't acting like they should be for 3 year old dogs. Now they are more excited to get their exercise and act like a pup again. My Sheltie is already starting to lose weight. And the best part is my lab/retriever has not had any gas since we fully got them off of the dog chow, and he's having solid stool! I highly recommend purchasing this food just for the fact that it's good for your pet. I'm trying to get my friends/family that have pets to switch to some form of food that is not full of fillers. I've learned my lesson. I did find it at a store that's about half hour away for about the same price so if you can find it cheaper where you live go for it! The kibble looks good quality and I feel confident about the ingredients. My dog eats it enthusiastically every time, which is not always the case with other brands. His coat looks shiny and he seems to have good energy since we switched. Digestion has been good too. There haven’t been any issues with upset stomach or loose stools, which was something I noticed with a few other foods we tried in the past. The beef meal and rice combo seems to sit well with him. Portions are easy to measure and the bag lasts a solid amount of time. For the price, you get a lot of food that doesn’t feel like cheap fillers.
