OMGeeee! I love this coffee maker!

*by R***D on Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2016*

Background: I have been using a single serve coffee maker by Black&Decker for a yr and a half. I also use a french press. I love coffee but I'm not a coffee snob.Pro's: -Programmable.-Shower head to bloom coffee grounds (optional to enable/disable).-Stainless carafe (won't break like glass).-Easy to clean.-Great coffee flavor! And I love glass over stainless but I'm a morning zombie until I have had my coffee maker.Con's: you probably will notice a tablespoon or two of liquids in the carafe after using because just can't seem to get last drops out unless you hand wipe it.-The lid to the carafe spins-on into place which isn't a con just different.-Small (for a couple or a person who would drink 4 or more standard "coffee mugs" of coffee a day.Hint: practice operation of unit a few times with water before attempting your coffee experience; Medium grind of beans will probably get best flavor results.I'm single so it's just me (usually) drinking coffee. I make a full pot (5 cups-small cups not typical coffee cup). I drink a 3rd of it at home and put the remainder in my 17oz thermos for work. What I love : waking up to the smell of coffee (Programmable). Nice stainless steel look with black.I haven't tested how long the carafe keeps coffee warm yet. I would suggest putting really warm water into the carafe for 10 mins to warm the stainless steel vessel. Then dump it out & make your coffee. Obviously this idea doesn't not work when you plan to use programmable function.

Ok, but I should have bought another Mr. Coffee.

*by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2017*

Makes pretty good coffee. I'm not a connoisseur, and seems to taste just a good as the old Mr. Coffee I had. You may need to experiment a bit on how much grounds to use per cup. I like the clear water reservoir with cup marks. The pot is well insulated and keeps the coffee hot. It has an infusion mode, which I use with every brew. What I don't like:The pot: Others have noted that the pot is poorly designed in that you cannot get all the contents out. You end up with a few oz of liquid that won't pour out. It's also difficult to clean if you have big hands. The underside of the plastic pot bezel is a bit sharp. So I rinse it out right away and don't let the coffee sit too long. After rinsing it out, I let it sit upright at an angle for a while. The water then accumulates in one spot and I blot it out with a paper towel. Then there's the top. If you don't want to spill coffee all over your countertop, you absolutely need to put on the separate top to pour cleanly. It's a bit inconvenient because you have to brew with it off, then when the brewing is done, you have to remove the filter holder and screw on the top. With the pour top, it leaves quite a bit of coffee in the pot that won't come out. Take the pour top off and you can get a bit more out, but it drips all over. Even then, there's still a couple oz still left. Compare this to the Mr. Coffee pot, which has no separate pour-top, nice wide mouth easy to clean and pour.Filter/grounds holder: It's plenty big enough, which is good, but like I said above, its inconvenient. The Mr. Coffee has the filter holder held in the machine. You can simply remove the pot and pour. This, you have to remove the filter holder which sits on top of the pot (which will drip out when you remove it), and screw on the pot top to pour. The Mr. Coffee filter holder bottom closes when the pot is removed. It won't drip.Price: Compared to the Mr. Coffee, this is 3 times more expensive. Considering the quality of the coffee, features, and the inconveniences, why so pricey? In summary, if I had to make my choice all over again, I think I should have bought the Mr. Coffee. The Bonavita isn't too bad, the coffee tastes good, but it's a lot more expensive and not as easy to use and clean as the Mr. Coffee. Considering I can't really distinguish that this Bonavita brews better tasting coffee, why pay $62 more than the Mr. Coffee? This was a mistake.

Easy path to pour over quality coffee

*by S***D on Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2016*

I got the TD (programmable) model for about $5 more thank the base model. Quite pleased with the quality and consistency of the coffee it makes. I have been making coffee manually for the last few years as I dabble into the coffee snob world, abandoning the bland regular drip machine and Keurig cups for the flavorful albeit resource-intensive experiment of various methods popular in the Third wave: Pour-Over (with the obligatory gooseneck kettle), Ice- Drip, Cold Brew, Vietnamese Phin, Thai Coffee Sock, Turkish, Aeropress, Moka Pot.I still enjoy them all, but i miss the easy life of just pushing the button. But I now find regular drip and Keurig undrinkable. And this Bonavita came in and fit the bill. I had not used the automatic timer since I prefer to grind just before brewing rather than having the ground sit around all night. The carafe works well except for the well-known fact that you can't completely empty it. After a couple of days, I decided to make peace with it and not let it bother me. I wash the thermos right after I finish the pot. The next morning, I put hot water to warm/rinse it and dump the water out. The little that was left will dilute the coffee just a little bit that it didn't taste any different to me.Happy to have an easy and relatively hands free way to have great coffee every morning again.
