Converted supernatural fan
Having read and thoroughly enjoyed Carol Collier's three earlier novels, I was surprised to learn that her newest was a definite departure from those three. Although not normally a fan of the supernatural genre, I decided to give it a try based on my admiration for her other works. I'm so glad I did.Although an authority on religions, Siri Thorson was certainly not a believer in supernatural powers. She fought hard against accepting their existence until her education and transformation in South America. The knowledge and ability she acquired there enabled her to confront a witch doctor who had evil designs on Siri and her family.Exceptionally well written and fast moving, the author's story unfolds smoothly and develops in such a manner as to keep the reader's interest and sympathy focused on the protagonist. Delightful reading throughout. Finally, ever the environmentalist, Collier unobtrusively reveals her concern about the potential destruction of the earth, often embodied in Siri's protector, the goddess of the ocean.
