I've bought many mag wheels that had a hollow hub. You'd look inside and only see the bearings supporting the compression of the tightened axle. Not this one. It's got a solid tube running end to end that houses the axle. I do recommend putting some Red and Tacky grease in the bearings...but it's not necessary. Even the nuts that come with it are solid. Everything threaded is threaded well. For those just getting into making a motorized bike, just do yourself a favor and get rid of your spoked rear rim. You'll be screaming at your bike trying to get the bolt on sprocket adapter even. Plus the stress on the spokes will snap them over time. Also, using disc brakes with a chain sprocket right next to it limits the sizes. You'll have to get a very small sprocket, minimum 36 tooth, and a very large disc rotor, at least 180mm. And then I sent it back tried to send it back and I had nothing but trouble not their fault. They sent me another one which work great up until the chain fell off and it's stripped out the bolts holding the sprocket for the 80cc motor. The chain stretched not their fault again so far I've had nothing but good luck with this rim since these two problems. I forgot one thing I had to use a Dremel on the valve stem hole because the valve stem wouldn't fit all the way through.
