I believe Taylor put them on all of their new guitars as standard now, and I can completely understand why. They last FOR AGES! I play the life out of my guitar and I haven't seen any tarnishing at all. They take no time at all to 'bed in' and stay in tune well. Very easy strings to play, not too hard on the ol' fingers. Value for money as well due to the quality being so high. I genuinely believe if you fitted these to a mediocre or low end guitar, you would improve the sound quality drastically.
