## Description

Product Description The Chef's Choice wafflepro model 830B prepares delicious Belgium style waffles in just 90 seconds. The unique quad baking system allows you to select the ideal flavor, texture and Color. In addition to the color control dial, The wafflepro features a separate Texture control button. desertcart.com Deep-pocketed Belgian waffles cook in 90 seconds or less with this 1100-watt WafflePro from Chef’s Choice. The waffle maker’s unique Quad Baking System allows a choice of texture, color, aroma, and flavor for each individual waffle. No longer just a breakfast treat with maple syrup, waffles on the crisp side make a perfect dessert when paired with ice cream, while kids love moist brownie waffles for an after-school snack. Recipes are included in the user guide. A rocker switch lets you choose between a faster baked waffle with a crisp exterior, moist interior, and heady aroma, or one cooked more slowly with a uniform texture throughout. The color control dial offers individual preference ranging from light golden brown to dark brown. Each 6-1/2-inch round waffle is quartered, allowing it to be divided easily between hungry kids or served as wedge-shape ‘cookies.’ The WafflePro also features nonstick plates and an overflow channel that wipe clean, a floating hinge to maintain even baking over varying thicknesses, and a beeper that sounds five times when cooking is done. Green and red baking lights make the whole procedure a snap. The cord wraps neatly underneath and the maker stands upright for compact storage. The waffle maker measures 8-1/2 by 9-1/2 by 3 inches and comes with a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

Review: Exactly What I Was Looking For - I have wanted an excellent quality round Belgian Waffle Iron for a while. Unable to find one locally, I started researching them on desertcart and I read almost every review and product specification of each one listed here. I also visited the website of each of the manufacturers. This was the one I finally settled on and I have been so excited awaiting it's arrival! (Thanks to each of you for taking the time to give your opinion of your the waffle iron you purchased) A couple of times I thought "nothing is ever as good as it claims to be so I need to be prepared to be disappointed". But just the opposite is true - it has exceeded all my expectations! I used it for the first time this morning and the results were fantastic. You can tell that it's good quality when you first pick it up - it's sturdily built with the heftiness you would expect. It comes with a nice little instruction booklet (I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was written by someone whose first language is English) including a couple of recipes and detailed instructions on the use of the product. The controls were a major deciding factor on my purchase. They are well engineered and elevated at the rear of the iron so that if you happen to overfill the base, the overflow can't get into them and gum up the works. But you won't have a problem if you follow the directions in your booklet and if you make your batter thick enough. You can control the crispness as well as the darkness of your waffle and believe it or not, all of the controls (including the timer) are ACCURATE! The waffles are done in almost no time. The green light comes on to tell you when they're done but you don't have to stand there and watch because the timer also beeps. And while loud enough to be heard above my radio in the kitchen, the sound was not annoying. When you're finished cooking just let the iron cool down and wipe it out with a paper towel. For storage the cord wraps neatly and fastens securely in the track provided on the bottom so the iron can stand vertically to take up less space. Also, I like the way that the lid is on a floating hinge so the waffle has more room to rise but still gets evenly browned. I did find something while researching this product that I think is worth mentioning. While I really don't think it will have any adverse effect on the purchase of this product, it seems that they are phasing-out the Chef's Choice brand. Apparently they are now calling all the Chef's Choice products by the manufacturer's name - Edgecraft (for example: Edgecraft 830B WafflePro Classic Belgian Waffle Maker). However, the products themselves still have "Chef's Choice" printed on them. They seem to have made some superficial changes to the design (the obvious one was that the irons now have a ridged instead of a smooth lid) and they have raised the prices but as far as I can tell it's still the same product - the specifications are all still the same. It has just been within this last week that they have started to implement the change and as of right now the style that I bought is still the one shown on their website. It may or may not take a while until the phase-out is complete so if you are looking for a good waffle iron, I highly recommend you take the plunge and buy this one before you have to pay more for the redesign.
Review: Outstanding for making thin waffles - Five stars because for what it is, it is excellent. But it makes thin waffles that are not by any means Belgian. Pros: After one oiling before the first use, the nonstick surface works perfectly. Waffles lift off effortlessly. The drip guard and exterior plastic are 100% easy to clean. This appliance doesn't appear to have any of those odd little corners that get gross over time because of the impossibility of cleaning them. The two settings (crispy throughout or crispy exterior) actually cook the waffles differently, and you can switch between them as you go. The browning control fine-tunes the done-ness, and so far has given very reproducible results. So on the cooking and cleaning fronts, it's a great little gadget. Con: I've posted a picture showing that these waffles are only 1/2" thick. We got some of the Golden batter recommended by other reviewers (and it's tasty and totally easy to use), but were also looking forward to playing with lots of our own recipes. These waffles have so little volume - what's missing especially is that thick space between where all the pockets come together - that I'm not sure we'll be able to detect any differences in texture or crispiness, no matter what we do. The waffles cooked by the two crispiness settings do come out different from one another, but there's no real 'matrix' to the inside part; it's just too thin to have its own character. Conclusion: If you love to play in the kitchen and are looking forward to treating your waffles like the next baking challenge, or if you love the deep pockets of Belgian waffles and want those separate crispy and soft textures, this is not a great maker. But if you want quick, reliably tasty waffles that come rapidly off an easy-to-clean maker this is a great choice.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long does it last?**
A: I'm still using mine after four years but I had a lot of trouble with it starting in just a few months. This is my second Chef's Choice 830B. The non-stick cooking surface failed on the first one and then the fuse blew out. Even with the problems with the waffle maker, I liked it so much that I purchased a second unit. On this unit that I bought in December 2009, the internal fuse kept blowing out and I returned it for repair two or three times until I decided to try to find out why the fuse was blowing out and replaced the fuse myself. The repair service was free and was excellent but it was costing my $15 for shipping to send it back. I discovered that the problem making the fuses blow out is that resistance of the heater element is too low when used in the "Crisp Exterior" mode as the two heater elements are paralleled for the Crisp mode. Replacing the fuse was a difficult job for me, but I was able to disassemble the unit and replace the fuse myself, and for the past two years or so, the waffle maker has worked perfectly but in order to keep the fuse from blowing, I can use it only in the "Uniform Texture" mode. The uniform texture is ok, but I did like the Crisp mode. Anyhow, I still use it, only in the Uniform texture mode. The non-stick cooking surface is still ok on this waffle maker and it still bakes the waffles quickly and uniformly.

**Q: Where was this made?**
A: German designed, Manufactured in China, is what it says on the label.

**Q: Does the hinge on the left wobble more than the one on the right? (Does it have more "play"?)**
A: Yes, but it does not affect the even cooking of the waffle.

**Q: whats is the volt for this machine? 120v or 220v-120v ? i will order this machine to Turkey, we have 220v does this machine work ?**
A: According to this reference: http://www.adaptelec.com/index.php?main_page=document_general_info&products_id=282, voltage is 110-120 in most home plugs in Canada, although voltage is higher in some special plugs for big appliances like stoves. I have plugged this waffle maker in an ordinary outlet in my dining room, so it probably works with 110-120 volts.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great waffle maker at a great price
*by J***N on April 13, 2009*

Our family had been looking for a waffle maker to replace the one lost during a recent move. We did not want one of the high-end pro models, but we did want a good appliance. The Chaf's Choice 8308 WafflePro looked like the right product with all the features we wanted. After using it for the past month or two we have found this waffle maker to be reliable, producing a crisp golden waffle. The timer is a great asset and assures a great waffle. The convenient way that it stores on its side, with the cord wrapped on the bottom, is a big plus.
