Its the only flip flops that get tacky when wet. They're also very strongly built. I bought a pair of these for myself. so good i had to buy some for my Son. **Q: How tall is the sole?** A: It was at least an inch. I look for a tall sole because I’m short so if that’s the premise behind your question you’ll be happy. I ultimately returned them though because the quality wasn’t great. I can’t say enough how comfortable and how nice looking these shoes are. My son- in- law is super picky about his feet and how shoes fit him. That’s ok. Why? According to him, I purchased for him one of a few most comfortable and durable flip flops he has ever worn. Yay! These were a part of his early birthday gifts before our beach trip.Highly recommend for their versatility to go with many things and look great. The arch support is wonderful by the way as he sometimes suffers bouts with plantar fasciitis. I’m happy to report the shoes aren’t real thick chunky flip flops. Instead, these are very nice low profile, with well-made curves, in arch and heel and do contour your feet surrounding every step with comfort. ****Buy them, what are you waiting for? The leather toe and foot straps add a touch of class, and the sole feels sturdy and durable, not at all flimsy. While I mostly wear them indoors with socks now due to the cooler weather, they were super comfortable during a particularly warm week we had. For sizing reference, I'm a 10.5 (US), so I opted for size 11.
