The reviews clarify that this thing breaks often.** A: I haven’t had any problems with mine. However, since potatoes and especially sweet potatoes are such hard vegetables, I parboil mine in the microwave before cutting (30 seconds-2 minutes, depending on the type and size of potato). It makes cutting them easier for you and your cutting devices! Also, make sure you cut large potatoes in half, so the pieces fit inside the device before cutting. **Q: Is it strong enough to cut unpeeled potatoes?** A: We haven't tried it, but I believe the answer would be yes. It does take some arm strength to use. You must also cut the potatoes down to about 3 1/2" length. We have been very pleased with ours. We use the smaller blade.
