A: Thorne's Alpha-Lipoic Acid is a 50/50 racemic mixture of both R-ALA and S-ALA. However, Thorne also has an all R-isomer form, R-Lipoic Acid.

**Q: Says in one pp that it does not contain magnesium and then in the ingredient list it says contains magnesium citrate. Which is right?**
A: Thorne does not utilize unnecessary excipients as manufacturing aids, such as magnesium stearate, a fatty acid, that can inhibit absorption. Thorne’s Alpha-Lipoic Acid contains a small amount of magnesium citrate as a manufacturing aid, but it is not enough magnesium to have a therapeutic effect, which is why it is listed in the Other Ingredients section.
