I always add it before cooking fresh veggies or just to season when reheating. A little bit goes a long way. I use one pack for a whole pot of veggies. You can adjust to your taste. **Q: Is it gluten free ?** A: Revised- Goya Ham Concentrate is gluten free per Goya Company. **Q: what is the shelf life/best to use by date of this?** A: I have about 4 boxes of this with the envelopes inside, there is no best by date or any date or numbers on the outside or on the individual envelopes.
