The great, It HOLDS. Mine has been mounted, without falling, for a year. My bars of soap are 5 oz when new. It is mounted on polished tile. To compare: I have another suction device that provides a hook for a squeegee; this one falls every 5-6 months no matter how I clean the time and the suction cup. The not-so-great. The platform does not sit level and the soap slides to the front and sometimes to the floor. See the picture and you can see the degree of the slope. I over come this by adding a $2.00 soap dish insert from IKEA; this prevents the soap from sliding and makes the overall solution ideal. You could easily use any soap dish insert that allows the soap to dry; there are natural sponge versions of this I've seen.
