Review: Best boat shoes I've ever purchased - There are a lot of negative reviews here on these Sperry's Billfish 3's...All I can say is that they feel fantastic right out of the box with my bare feet and construction wise they feel really really solid. The side mesh panels areas don't have leather on the inside, as on reviewer noted, they actuall work and help keep things drier and more comfortable when not using socks. I imagine there is a bad luck factor with some of these reviewers, but my initial impression is that these are high quality boat shoes that are miles beyond the thom mcan's, bass, etc. that I've used throughout my life....Yes, they are my very first Sperry's shoes, so maybe the older made Sperry's were a lot better than these, but I'm definitely happy and satisfied with my purchase...I hope these hold up well in the future, because they really fit me like a glove.
Review: Sperry Top Sider, great shoe for comfort - These shoes are good quality. I can't say how long they'll last. I had a cheaper pair of boat shoes that lasted several years. The soles fell apart and the leather separated from the sole. Goop fixed most of it for many good years of service. The soles on Sperry Top Siders seem to be significantly better quality. Shoes are very light weight. I like the air panel in the side, for cool comfort. They look very nice. Very satisfied customer.

**Q: I noticed in the reviews that the stitching in the shoe is falling apart. Has that occurred a lot?Also i wear a 10 and what is the other sizes listed?**
A: I have been wearing the Sperry Billfish for 20+ years. I literally wear them every day. I keep 3 pairs going: 1 clean and new pair for going out casual 2nd or for knocking around the house and working on hobbies 3rd pr a bit worn out and they get used for yard work and such. At some point every couple years, l order a new pair and discard the worn out yard shoes because they have holes in them and look pretty ratty. They are my base shoe and you are more likely to see me in them than not. I have never had any quality issues like stitching coming undone or shoe laces wearing out. They are meant to be tied so you can just slip them on - not tie them everytime you put them on. Have never had the laces break before the shoe is shot. They are excellent shoes. Bill (as in Billfish).

**Q: which models are good for winter usage**
A: I dont understand why people bother to answer questions with "I dont know". The only thing worse is people who answer INCORRECTLY!!  By "winter usage" I've got to assume you're talking about "cold".  Although I've never owned a pair. I see that the make these with wool uppers.  From my mountaineering experience, I know wool was the material of choice for the cold long before synthetic fabrics were invented.  There are two properties that make wool a great material for winter. 1 is that well will retain somewhere around 80 - 90 % of its thermal properties even when wet.  The other us that wool doesn't burn. It may smolder a bit, but it wont ignite.  Modern day synthetics like polar fleece are close to well in thermal properties when wet, but it will melt, idle not ignite with fire.  So if recommend the will shoes for winter.  I'd have to guess that's why they made them in the first place.  I also wouldn't be surprised if wool doesn't have some other properties to it that make it more durable le in a salt water environment, but that's oure speculation on my part that I haven't looked into yet.

**Q: regarding the width:  what is the difference between the C/D and the D(M)?**
A: I know M is for medium width. The other is either wide or narrow.

**Q: My laces wore out before the shoe what do i do?**
A: The laces have shown wear sooner than the leather laces.  But I still prefer them-they stay tied better.  Still got 2 years out of them with a lot of wear.  Still my knock-around shoes for fishing, boating and chores.

There are a lot of negative reviews here on these Sperry's Billfish 3's...All I can say is that they feel fantastic right out of the box with my bare feet and construction wise they feel really really solid. These shoes are good quality. I can't say how long they'll last. I had a cheaper pair of boat shoes that lasted several years. The soles fell apart and the leather separated from the sole. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lightweight version of Billfish very comfortable

When my current favorite pair was getting very worn, I despaired or finding the same model to replace them. New pair fits like a glove, is very light weight, and is entirely satisfactory. If you want to find this light weight model, find a site with the range of Billfish models. and you'll find it somewhere in the options. Size selection is limited. I suspect that production has ended.
