All 24 arrived in good condition and functioning. Each is pre-loaded with a flat battery, so can choose to replace it when it stops working. There is no "timer" function or remote so you need to manually turn on and turn off each candle light. From a distance, the candles can stand alone. Up close they are not very realistic so I would suggest votive holders with "frosted" glass or a design to distract from the actual candle itself. Have used them twice so far. First time was 8+ hours. Second time approximately 6 hours.
