Review: Great Knife - When opening the box the first thing that I noticed was the knife felt pretty heavey. The Pocket clip feels solid, and should last longer the other "Cheaper knives". Even with the weight the knife feels good in hand. The saftey switch has quite a bit of friction and feels cheap. I fear that this will be the fault of the knife but only time will tell. The knife opens very fast with 2 options. It also has a window punch on the bottom end of the knife. For now this gets 4 stars, time will tell is it moves to 5 stars or 3. Update 4/8/11 I have been very pleased with the performance of this knife. The knife is still very sharp, and is opening just as fast when it came out of the box. The safety switch that is was concerned about still works consistently, with no issues. The pocket clip is still secure. Update 9/16/11 I'm still very happy with this knife and have had numbers of people ask where I had got it so they can pick on up too. Still opens fast and only issue is the pocket clip is starting to come loose, Looking for the tool to tighten it up before it falls off. Over all 5 stars.
Review: Serious knife indeed. Great with gloves! - First off...don't make the mistake of confusing this with the SWMP1B!! This knife is about twice as thick, longer in both the blade and handle, and overall more threatening looking. This is not a knife you carry with you in civil public places. At least, you would draw weary eyes if you were to flick it out and start cutting something. That being said, I am actually quite happy with this knife. It flicks out fast. The blade locks perfectly solid with no wiggle whatsoever. Comes quite sharp. The glass breaker is always nice to have. My only complaint is the lock switch is a little loose at times, but doesn't appear to actually affect the functionality. If you were to thrust this knife forward into an object (don't let your mind wander!) you would be forcing the thumb stud up...I'm not sure how much pressure that could take before harming the mechanism. All-in-all, this is a fantastic larger knife for use in the garage, outdoor work, or in a military or police application (go figure!). Certainly a good one to add to the collection.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What improvement on 2nd generation and did they fix the safety lock?**
A: Since I am unfamiliar with the 1st generation I don't know what the safety lock was like.  I do know that I have had no problem whatsoever with the safety lock on the 2nd generation knife and carry it with complete confidence

**Q: are all smith and wesson m@p knifes made in the usa**
A: I'm  not sure. This appears to be a very sturdy well made knife. Its easy to operate and sharpen.

**Q: Suggestions for sharpening blade??**
A: I use a Work Sharp tool sharpener and find that the graduate grit bands on the sharpener do a great job.

**Q: Does it have a pocket clip and on which end?**
A: Yes, and on the butt end. If you are right handed it will come out of your pocket and you can unlock with your thumb and hit release to open with your index finger, and be ready to go, all in one relatively quick and fluid movement.

I have had this knife for a few months now and love it. This is a solid knife that works well. The blade snaps open and you would swear it was a switchblade, but legal. It holds its edge well and if you know how to sharpen a blade you can get this one razor sharp. I recommend this knife highly. You can feel the quality, the blade can be locked open or closed which is a very nice feature since if you dont lock it it can open in your pocket. That is not common, but in the right position if you press up against something it can open, remember the razor sharp part.....it has a very pointy tip so enough said.
