It would be better if they didn’t sweeten it at all or used stevia (a natural sweetener) **Q: Calories in each drop?** A: From Ricola's website, each drop has 8 calories and 3.5g of carbohydrate. Most of that is from the isomalt, which has about 2 calories per gram (vs 4 for sugar), so 3.5 grams of isomalt per drop. The remaining one kilocalorie is probably from the herb extracts, which probably means they're an oil-based extract. Isomalt is probably used for texture and crystallization; the main sweetener is aspartame, which is zero-calorie. FYI, the non-sugar-free version has 14 calories, which tracks. Substitute 3.5 grams of sugar for 3.5 grams of isomalt, and that component doubles.
