Lonely Planet Philippines (Travel Guide)

My son is living in the Philippines. We are planning a visit- this book has been a very helpful Orientation to this vast place with such a huge variety of landscape, weather,& activities.

Does not include some of the most famous locations, so strange

A helpful guide with a condensed overview of the Philippines. Get quickly oriented to the geography of the country- also has a handy index for looking up specific locations and interests. It could use more pictures- but aside from this, a very useful guide.

I didn't care for the way this book was organized. It made it difficult to find what I was looking for. I also found there was much information missing.

Although this is a 2021 edition, the information has not been updated in years. For example, the book mentions the airport at Tagbilaran as the main airport on Bohol - This airport was closed in 2018 and a different (but close by) airport now serves the island. None of this is revealed in this book and you really have to do significant research to verify almost everything in this book, Several hotels/B&Bs listed are closed as well. I've been using LP for 30+ years, but after the last few trips, I'll be moving to a different travel guide as they are consistently out of date

We always use Lonely Planet guides when traveling off the beaten path. Full of great info and travel tips. Biased towards younger backpacker types, but this retired couple still find them the best guides for traveling on a budget.

Con la guida LP della Tailandia ci ho girato bene da nomade girovagando indipendentemente per due mesi interi in quel paese. Con questa, che è un terzo lo spessore, al massimo ci pianifico il viaggio a grandi linee ma poi farò affidamento sulla sorte degli incontri una volta sul posto. Mancano moltissime attrazioni che si possono scovare seguendo vari video vlogger su youtube (in inglese) ed è troppo orientata sul turista giovane ed atletico.
