Beautifully crafted to resemble a real samurai sword, this hardwood red oak sword is great for practicing techniques without the danger of using a sharp sword. Length is 40 inches. Two piece handguard included

what I received looks nothing like the pictured item
what I received looks nothing like the pictured item. The wood is not oak and can be dented with a fingernail. Item came missing one tsuba, wrapped handles came off one almost immediately (though there should have been no wrapping as per the pictures).I had purchased and received a different bokken 2 days prior to ordering these. The first IS oak, 6 inches shorter (the length is why I ordered the set being reviewed) and weighs more (again indicating that what I received was not oak). Not that they were a high dollar item, but I definitely won't get any items from this manufacturer / company again.

Cheap and dangerous.
Don't waste your money. I ordered these to practice with but the splitting of the wood in one of them was so bad I was afraid to completely unwrap it. +Totally unsafe fgor even singular practice. The other had a split in the HILT so I didn't even bother.

I wasn't expecting much in the first place given the cut-rate price, but these bokken are extremely low quality, essentially to the point where I would hesitate to even name them bokken. The weight is significantly too heavy and badly distributed, the point of balance is far too close to the tip, each individual bokken is blatantly misshapen and asymmetrical, and to compare the two side by side clearly highlights the fact that they can barely even be considered the same shape. My order also only came with one set of tsuba and stopper, and these were extremely low quality as well. Basically this listing is for a set of curved, slightly-too-thin baseball bats. The feel and mechanical demands of holding/swinging these bokken is so far from the feeling of a proper bokken, it doesn't even begin to approximate the real experience.

Price is right, but ditch the cloth handles
The bokkens are what you would expect, but they didn't come with a tsuba.. They aren't entirely essential, but they are in the picture, so one would expect them to be included. The handles have wrapped cloth (flat nylon cord) glued on them. After a little use they start to slip a bit and come loose. I just pulled them off and tossed them since I didn't want them slipping off during a kata clobbering my friends. This leaves the sticky glue on the handle which eventually peels off or can be dissolved away with Goof Off or something like that.

Either a shipping mixup or missadvertised
I got two bokkens, and this is what i noted about them1. They both had cord wrapped handles unlike the ones in the picture, and the cord wasn't secured all that well and moved after the first couple of swings, so i removed it and scraped the glue off the bottom side of the handle - this took too long but it was worth it.2. One of them wasn't of solid wood construction, it was spliced with another piece of wood at the handle about 3 inches at the end, so its not all that critical but still something to mention.Other than that the weight is pretty good and they seem to be quite sturdy and fit for practice.

Is not a bokken for training
Just got my bokken and I'm sad to say when I inspect it, I saw a crack right in the middle of one of the bokkens. It looks like it was somehow repaired and painted over. I used it for practice yesterday and you can feel it may crack at anytime. Also, it sounds hollow. I didn't expect much for the price but at least I was expecting it can be used for moderate practice in an Aikido class.I dont recommend this product for intensive bokken practice. It can be used as a decorative item in a house or dojo. If you are looking for a practice aikido bokken is better to buy another kind of bokken. The material in this bokken is not strong enough.

Awesome!
I bought these Bokken for my brother because he likes swords and cool stuff like that. When they arrived, they were much more solid and sturdy than I expected, which is definitely a good thing. These can really cause some damage if not used properly, so don't mess around with them. They're only a little heavy, but that's how it should be, and they can build strength and skill. Also, the handle is very comfortable and fits the hand perfectly, so the grip is very nice and the Bokken should be secure in your hands. Overall, these Bokken are great and definitely worth your money, considering how inexpensive they are!

Worth the money...
I have an 11 year old son who is facinated with Japanese culture and weaponry (who isn't?). I bought these for him to get a feel for Bokken and to possibly get him some higher end models when he gets used to using these. When I received them, they were more sturdy than I'd expected them to be. These bokken are very solid. I was basically expecting to receive a couple of "sticks", to be honest, but I was impressed with how these bokken look and feel. For the money, I would say that these are a very good buy. Especially if you are buying them for a child or young teen. I could see where they could possibly be cracked or broken of used in intense practice, but I think they would definitely hold up to some light sparring and technique practice.

For training, this is a great deal.
I do martial arts, so does my spouse. These bokken in a paired set are exactly what you need for partner kata and practice.

Buy Another Product
Handles are too tight and one of the swords was cracked. Although this doesn't affect the integrity of the product these weren't inspected properly. Bad quality control.

Immediately broke on first couple swings. Warped wood and small tiny irregular knots and imperfections. Not worth my time or money.

Random slight to really bad imperfections
They're good for practice and that's what they're for but some are warped pretty bad and not wrapped to well. I bought 4 to use in To Shin Do.

Poorly made even for an inexpensive bokken. Balance is off. Better to spend more money and get a decent quality product.

Four Stars
The weight and length are great and the look is terrific. Only problem is the grips are loose. Returning.

Exactly what we needed.
I bought these for my son to practice with, and he loves them. They aren't too heavy for a 12 year old and not too light for an adult. Good balance and solid wood.
