It is very sturdy and dog friendly. We've had it about a month and holding up well. I bought a larger one for my mom's 7lb Shihpoo that came to visit so she could be comfortable in a new place and she loves it. It has an opening on the side that can be zipped or left open and a string to tie up the flap. Also has an opening on the top that can be zipped close or left open. We added a little mat inside for some cushion.
