My mother-in-law had a wound on her ankle for 2 years. The doctor treated it with ointment and bandages. A homecare nurse did some research and decided to try the Polymem, which is a pink foam type dressing. You apply the Polymem, dry, no creams or ointment. Leave it on until you can see fluid leakage starting to show through the dressing, usually 2 or 3 days. Then gently wash and pat dry the wound and reapply a fresh dry Polymem dressing. My mother-in-law's 2 year old wound healed in 10 days with the Polymem. I reccomend it to everyone! It is expensive but, since it actually works in a short time, you don't need much. Plus, what is more important than healing a persistent wound in as short a time as possible!? You can get it in different sizes. Read the description carefully to see if what you're ordering will require tape to adhere or not.
