My girls both wore them kayaking and they held up well to a number of plunges into the water and the handle was great for pulling them back out of the water and into the kayaks. Pyrina's (black lab) has a spot in a seam line that I might choose to reinforce, but she is a fairly small lab, but still a hefty lab and so I think her weight is high for the size of the vest and it put extra pressure on the seam. It did still hold up and I don't think it would give out on another go round or two, but it is the reason these lost a star. I would be worried that if we used it regularly for a summer, it might bust on that line without some reinforcement. Overall, these are great and the girls look adorable so I am happy with the purchase!Daisy is in a Large and Pyrina is in an X-Large.
