Thick rubber that doesn't feel cheap, it is 8 feet in diameter so you can stretch out and relax. Just deep enough to float on your back and submerge your head. We had another model by the same company last year and it saved our summer. Definitely need a pump for the ring, and get chlorine and bromine tablets and a screen to maintain water. Don't buy one of those cheap kiddie pools, this pool will last months and will more than pay for itself.
