Rex Ray: Art + Design Hardcover – October 11, 2007

Beautiful art!!! Very inspiring

I just came across Rex Ray recently, and I was so excited to get his book. It’s so colorful and inspirational. You won’t regret buying this.

The book is an excellent overview of Rex Ray's career. The 4 stars is not on the content of the book but on the production of it. The description describes this book as hardcover. It is not. It's a paperback book with hard covers glued to the front and back. It makes the front and back too heavy for the binding.

Rex Ray. Timeless. Chic. Approachable. Sophisticated. A tall order for decades of brilliant work. He bucked the art culture of the '60's and 70's in wanting to create beautiful work, in contrast to the counter culture of that ideology during his earlier years. The interviews and commentaries on his life were as captivating as the work itself. This is a gorgeous book.

If you are a fan of Rex Ray, then this is a book to have in your library. It is eye candy. There isn't a lot of text. However, there are pages and pages of his beautiful works to study. I am glad I purchased it.

Wonderful book, Rex Ray’s art is inspiring. Am not pleased with the liquid stains in the first quarter of the pages and would not have rated it in “good” condition.

Spellbinding? That's pretty highfalutin lingo for an art book. True, but it's spot on. There is SO much going on in Rex Ray's art that you'll find yourself pouring over it transfixed trying to figure out how he did it. You ask yourself how it's possible that he did all of that in collage. Really really really good stuff.

This is an excellent survey of this artist's career to date, with a post-pop-art sensibility that has a wide appeal to many age groups. This volume has very fine color reproduction showing the cut-paper pieces with great clarity. A fun book even for the casual art appreciator, lots of very creative visual stimulation.

This book contains a wonderful selection of Rex Ray's work, with a small but interesting biog and interviews with him too - the book is mainly taken up with many lovely reproductions of his strikingly beautiful, mixed media collages.Being a middle aged, UK housewife I was considerably out of the loop, when I stumbled upon Rex Ray's work last week online - oh wow! It was what I'd been wanting to look at all my life - it was there in my subconscious all along, so I instantly recognised it and wanted to see more! Having found out about him from the 'look inside' of this book, and from an interview posted on 'seeds and fruit' blog [...] I had to buy this book - I'm not rich at all, but I 'needed' it, and it is well worth buying I think - it's a beautiful book!

A wonderfully illustrated 'resource and insight into this artist's work. A great inspiration for artists of collage and also textiles.

Beautiful presentation, great info and even better plates and images. Incredibly worthwhile purchase that will bring pleasure for years to come!

Great overview of Rex Ray's work and background. Several of my friends have ordered the book after seeing my copy.
