I'm unlikely to find a use for the red beam as I bought this item for use in the home and garden, but I'm more than satisfied with the white light. The magnet is quite powerful and although I don't tend to use that as intended, on more than one occasion I have put the torch down too close to the car keys and it has grabbed onto them quite strongly, requiring a firm tug to get the keys away from it :) But be aware of the "demo mode" that the flashlight is set at when it's shipped. You need to follow the instructions for disabling that, otherwise it automatically shuts off after 10 or so seconds. Why does it only light (both torch & lantern) for just 10 secs?** A: Nebo torches sometimes get sent to customers in demo mode. To fix it take the battery out for 10 seconds and put it back in. This should fix the problem and have the torch functioning as it should. **Q: Does anyone know how to get this thing out of demo mode? The standard instructions to "remove the end cap & remove the batteries" are of no help.** A: Mine had the same problem, and couldn't remove the battery. Press the ON button down until you get two flashes worked for me. **Q: How do you get the franklin slude 500 lumins to stay turned on as it turns itself of after 10-12 seconds?** A: Apparently two methods: (1) Take the battery our for 30 secs and replace (2) On some models press the ON button down until you get 2 flashes from the torch. (2) worked for me. **Q: How do you put this flash light in the red light mode? can you have it constantly flashing if needed? thanks** A: It's only the worklight element that will go red (not the flash light).
