Review: Dryer Filter Cartridge Box Truck Tool! - Box truck started showing signs of a bad air dryer filter (High pitch noises on recharge cycles from 90-120 PSI) and went ahead and picked one up from the local truck parts store for $40. Still needed a way to remove the filter after removing the housing cap with 8 bolts/nuts and 1 top bolt securing the top of the cap. My box truck has a super tight area to get into under the trailer and one can just barley fit. Had to adjust myself multiple times but this chain wrench did the trick. At first, I was tightening the old filter without realizing until I had come to the realization that the direction of the tool will affect which way it can effectively function. The goal is to wrap around the filter and get a tight angle while slightly adjusting the handle at a 15 degree turn to get the two slitted parts of the wrench to make contact against the filter. This way, you have max leverage and can begin pulling towards you. Pushing is not effective in my multiple sessions so ensure you have space and pull away. Left loose right tight. Took my time and also lubed all the bolt threads with anti seize before putting everything back together. This chain wrench will remain with the truck tool box moving forward for all hands on filter replacements.
