I have a stone walkway leading to my front door. The walkway has low stucco planter walls on either side and is 4-1/2 wide. The walk goes up a slight incline by one step increments meaning that there's one step up, a long flat landing and then another step up. The steps are fully stone clad so I couldn't drill the lights into the steps themselves. I drilled them into the stucco wall on one side. When lit, they fully light the length of the step (4-1/2'). The lights are modern, clean and unobtrusive. I'm so pleased with how they blend in. When they are on "low", I don't even see them from the front door. When approaching, they light up. They sense an approach from about 6' away. Because the lights are close to the sidewalk (the porch and garage lights light the path closer to the house), cars or people going by at night will trigger them to turn on high but they go off by themselves after 45 seconds or so and they have enough solar power to last the night. At 6am, they were still on the low setting. As I walked down the steps to get the newspaper, they came on bright and strong.These lights were not trivial to drill into stucco/concrete. You'll need a powerful drill and drill bits for concrete. I made a template with a piece of paper, marked the holes on the wall using the template and then used a lot of elbow grease to drill into the stucco.
