**Q: How many times do I need to wash it for the smell to go away?**
A: Washed it three times and it still smelled like jet fuel.  I sent the teal/turquoise colored mat towel back. I bought a green, a purple and a brown Gaiam grippy yoga mat towels from Sports Authority or Dick's Sporting Goods, and they did not smell. Don't understand why they keep selling this contaminated product?

**Q: will it prevent hands from slipping?**
A: Yes it will stop hands from slipping.  Just buyer beware about the smell.  Plan on washing it 2 to 3 times before using and put several dryer sheets in with it when drying.  I also let mine hang on the line between washing.

**Q: On a down dog pose does this towel helps to prevent you from sliding forward? I don't have problems with me feet, but my hands get sweaty. Thanks!**
A: Yes, very much! The fluffy top part - which feels like cotton, but is microfiber - kind of allows your hands to dig in a bit. I love doing straddle position poses on this towel because I'm always fearful of my (sweaty, skinny) feet slipping apart and this towel holds them.
