The exterior material is velour type of material for some reason the wig hugs onto. I had issues with wig not falling off, but moving to one side or back. With this band the edges of the wig are more secure. I have worn wigs and hair pieces since I was 5 years old and I'm 65. This wig grip I have found works best for no wig movement. Truthfully why the wig holds onto the material makes no sense but it works. Try it you'll like it, and if you don't Amazon has amazing return policy.
