## Features

- 1080 is a moderately high carbon content forging steel used for making knives. This oil quenching steel is in the annealed state.
- Iron alloy contains 0.88% carbon, 0.90% manganese, 0.05% sulphur, and 0.04% phosphorus.
- Dimensions are 1/8" x 1-1/4" x 12".
- Layer 1080 with 15N20 to forge Damascus, and etch with Ferric Chloride to bring out the contrast. Higher carbon steels like 1080 will keep an edge much better than stainless steels, but are also more susceptible to rust without proper care.

## Questions & Answers

A: Probably so. It will at least make Damascus to some degree. To make sure though find a table of each steals compsition and make sure the have significantly diff nickel amounts.

**Q: are these precision ground?**
A: Simple answer. Yep

**Q: Would this be suitable for beginners using the stock removal method?**

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good for Forging.
*by M***L on July 25, 2017*

Great Stock for knives. It forged very well, very even. I stacked a few pieces on top of each other and ended up cutting and folding about four times. It held up during the quench, no warps, and was a very easy heat treat. Tempering was solid, and ended up with a decent bowie. Recommended for anybody who enjoys just playing around in the forge.
