No battery powered. **Q: Can you actually play music??** A: The lights themselves do not play music. But they do respond to music and light up when you do play music. **Q: How many lumens is it per meter? Is 200 for the whole 5 or ?** A: Probably for the strand. The app is quite simple to use. The lights are pretty easy to set up to the app and to Alexa as well. I had no issue whatsoever with the set up. The install went the same way any installation of strip lights. The process is simple but depending on what it’s being installed ON, it can be a bit tricky to get it spot on. If you’re considering this item and it’s the first time you’re installing a strip light, the lights come on a reel about 5” in diameter. It can twist about a bit while installing. Remove the backing by the foot or less as needed, adhere it to the location, then pull some more of the backing off and repeat. Don’t touch the sticky side and be sure of where the strip is going down as once you press down on it, you really can’t pull it Back up to reset. Just take your time. If you’ve installed led strips before, same as any 4 pin strip. Grab a few 3” or 4” zip ties for excess wiring. The app is typical for smart Home devices. The Alexa integration was what drew me to this item and it didn’t disappoint. Easy set up and it’s doing what it was installed for, all in about an hour.
