Here you go man, YES. The big 3 has all to do with grounding your electrical system and then making sure your current from the alternator to your battery is more than adequate. That is the core of your question. Now once the big 3 is complete you can choose whatever gauge you need to meet the amount of power for your amplifiers needs. If you were running a smaller system <600 to 800 watts then yeah 4 gauge is fine, but if you're already running 0/1 and you want to future proof incase you wanna run 1200+ then go ahead and run the giant stuff because it never hurts to have more than you need. Also don't waste your money getting cheap on the wire that goes to the amp from the battery.
