Bird poop gets on everything, birds diving at you, dead babies on the floor, live babies on the floor (get the picture?), etc. It's been a mess for years.I initially purchased just one of these owls. I first tested it on my front porch due to some birds nesting on my columns. It didn't get those birds to leave but I ran all of my wife's hummingbirds away for days (oops - she was pissed - LOL).I took it to work and placed it on a container about 10 feet high. Within 5 minutes there was a hundred plus birds diving at it. It was quite a sight to see. Over the next week or so, we could tell that this SOB works. There was less birds each day.I purchased 2 more so that I could cover the entire building. We now have about 20% of the number of birds that we had. I think that the ones that stayed had babies already. I'll get it out sooner next year.I can't tell you that it will work for other birds. But it works on Barn Swallow species........oh - works on hummingbirds to. 😁 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Goodbye Hawks *by A***A on Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2022* I put sand in owl to add weight and it was sufficient, of course you can add small stones. WORKED FIRST DAY USED. Had 2 HAWKS that were attacking and getting my birds and squirrels which I feed. Purchased 2 and placed them in my yard. Hawks came every day at 6:15am, 6:45pm. These are the times I was able to see since I work. Heard them verbally at these times. Saw them perch and attack. NO LONGER. Best buy ever. If your feeding birds or squirrels, place away from feeders, where the HAWKS will see them and EVERYONE ELSE WILL BE happy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Proper use may be effective. Four mounting mechanisms. Need to move it around. May attract Murder. *by C***W on Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2016* Plastic bird. The one I got the eyes were not glued on "straight." A little self adjustment fixed the issue, but just so you know, this is ultimately a piece of plastic with glued on parts (eyes) and airbrushed paint job.From a proper distance and (hopefully) for a bird they can't tell the difference.Four mounting options:1. Stick a stick into it. The bottom has a cap that you can open and stick a rod in it to hold up the owl.2. Open the cap and pour sand into it, and cap it. The weight of the sand will hold up the owl. Don't try water. Water will leak out.3. Tie the owl down to the top of the post. There's a little zip-tie hook/anchor point.4. String it up and hang it from something. There's a hook/anchor point the top of the owl.Obviously #4 mounting option is the least realistic. I think even a bird will figure that out.According to articles I have read, the best way to use owls is to move them around every so often. Birds will quickly smart the situation and ignore the threat. Because of this insight, I am thinking stick mounting (option #1 above) makes it harder to move around every week or so. And climbing on top of the roof is not an everyday thing. So, it's gonna be a challenge to move the owls around frequently.Also, according to some other articles, the owls attract crows. The crows will gather and group dive bomb the owl in territory dispute situations. So you may end up attracting a murder. It hasn't happened to me yet but I am looking out. A group of them do seem to be squawking a lot lately in the neighborhood since the owl went up.But the pigeons didn't seem to feel threatened by the owl so far...Damn birds.
