All the pieces are placed on 10 sheets of material but not in the order they go in. There are no instructions so your only recourse is to go to YouTube to figure out how to put it together. Once you build one - it's pretty easy to figure out for subsequent ones. We punched out all the pieces, separated into sections in baggies and this made it much easier to assemble. If you paint or wallpaper go lightly - too much moisture makes the wood expand/warp and makes putting them together a lot more difficult. Dry brush only when you paint. If you do wallpaper with decoupage don't get it to wet and be careful not to block any of the slots where pieces need to snap together.
