The pole it’s aluminum and very thin. it wouldn’t withstand winds more than 7-9 mph. I reinforced mine inserting a 24” PVC pipe (painted black) in he cast iron 26 pounds stand. The screw it’s tide now and even though looks sturdy. The umbrella tills with winds more than 12mph. **Q: How sturdy is this. Does it stand up to windy/rainy days?** A: It looks quite sturdy but I would recommend closing the umbrella during windy/rainy days to limit potential damages. **Q: String came out of pulley. How can i fix it?** A: check to see if the axel the pulley rotates around is bent or if the pulley itself is worn so bad where the axel goes thru it that the pulley is cocked to one side causing the cord when it is taunt to ride off the side. However, I went to work leaving it open and an unexpected wind/rain storm blew through and trashed it. It appears the plastic mount supporting the stays of the umbrella snapped. I did not ask for a refund because it was my own stupid fault but I did contact the seller to see if I could buy a replacement part in attempt to fix it. Well guess what? THEY SENT ME A BRAND NEW UMBRELLA FREE OF ALL CHARGES, even though the damage clearly occurred AFTER THE RETURN PERIOD EXPIRED! Unbelievable top-notch customer relations. I highly recommend this company! I'm still shaking my head in amazement. However, make sure to crank your umbrella down if a storm is brewing in your area because they're not designed to survive a monsoon or hurricane.
