## Overview

The Intel 670p Series 1TB M.2 2280 SSD leverages PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 interface and advanced QLC 3D NAND technology to deliver up to 3500 MB/s sequential read and 2500 MB/s write speeds. Designed for professionals and gamers, it offers a compact form factor, reliable performance, and a 5-year warranty, making it a top-tier choice for high-capacity, high-speed internal storage.

## Description

The Intel 1TB 670p NVMe M.2 Internal SSD is designed to provide you with the capacity and performance to handle everyday tasks such as multitasking applications and playing games. Featuring the latest QLC (Quad Level Cell) NAND technology, the 670p is designed to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 3500 MB/s, which is nearly double the speed of the previous generation, in addition to 2500 MB/s sequential write speeds. This 1TB NVMe PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 solid-state drive installs into an M.2 2280 slot and is compatible with a wide variety of desktop computers, laptops, and other devices.

Review: Reliable, fast drive - I have 2, 2 TB and recently got the 1TB at a great price. This is the best QLC drive because it has DRAM and relatively fast QLC. What that means is that it is fast until the DRAM cache is used up and then it writes at native speeds. But since this QLC is recent, the native speed is 500MB/sec, which is still faster than hard drives and SATA SSD. Most QLC does not have DRAM and their speeds drop to slower than hard drives. Until recently, pairing this with a RTL9210 USB 3.1G2 enclosure resulted in half speed transfers on a M1/M2 mac, but recent updates seem to address this. So for $35 (1TB 670p) + $20 (enclosure), you can get a 10Gbps external enclosure for $55, which is amazing. Note that you need to go to the Solidigm website (not intel) to get the software to firmware update this to 003C, which fixes a thermal throttling issue. This is great for applications that write not that often and read often, like a media drive. I put a 2TB 670p into a Eversolo DMP-A6 and it works great, once I transferred the files in an enclosure first.
Review: A good value 2TB NVME SSD but gets VERY hot during file copying though... - I needed a portable drive to store 1.2TB of video that was also fast enough for processing the video and this was the best value I could find that had good performance and a decent warranty, and that I could get next day. It didn't disappoint, copying over the 1.2TB went fast with minimal slowdown during the long copy and has been working great while the video is being processed. But... I had originally installed in into a small Orico SMART-FV25 NVMe enclosure with a minimal heatsink (more or less it's a piece of spring metal that clips to the SSD and fits inside the enclosure), and during the 1.2TB copy the drive got very hot - hot enough that you couldn't hold it (60c-70c at least). I transferred the SSD to another enclosure I have that uses the whole body of the enclosure as a heatsink (a SABRENT EC-SNVE NVMe enclosure) and this seemed to have tamed the heat for this drive. Note that it only heated up this much while doing heavy copying to the drive (which is primarily why I got it, BTW). In normal operation it gets warm to the touch based on how much it's being written to, so while writing to the drive heats it up, reading from the drive doesn't seem to be as much of a problem. Keep this in mind if you are buying this where you'll be writing a lot of files to the drive and using it for processing the material on the disk. If I were to use it in a computer as a general-purpose drive, I would still ensure that it was adequately heatsinked there to avoid any potential problems as well.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does this have a dedicated dram chip? If, so; what size?**
A: Brand	Model	Interface	Form Factor	Capacities	Controller	Configuration	DRAM	HMB	NAND Brand	NAND Type	Layers	R/W (Up to, in MB/s)	Categories
Intel	670p	x4 PCIe 3.0/NVMe	M.2	512GB-2TB	SMI SM2265	Dual-core R5, 4-ch, 4-CE/ch	Yes	No	Intel	QLC	144	3500/2700	Entry-Level NVMe	Best at 1TB+; 256MB of DRAM

**Q: Does this have d ram?**
A: yes, it has dram, and pretty good dram at that.

**Q: is this good as a game drive?**
A: I use a 1tb and a 2 tb 670p M.2 drives on an x570 motherboard, ryzen 5600x, 32gb RAM. I enjoy a wide range of games and simulators; from Jedi Survivor to KSP thru the Last of Us up to MS Flight Simulator on VR. I enjoy extremely fast load times, from multiple drives even, and a little sense of mind that the Intel chips have some good quality backing them up.

**Q: I see the Intel name on the chips, but not on the board itself. Am I missing it?**
A: Is it supposed to say Intel on the board? I bought a couple of these. They look legit.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great! 100% Health, No errors or bad sectors after years of use
*by D***D on August 29, 2024*

Picked 2 up on sale last year when prices bottomed out. Only regret is that I didn't get more! One is used for my retro arcade and the other is in a flash NAS (storage, not a cache drive). I have another that's been in a desktop for several years with no issues. These are single sided and run quite cool, so I have not added a heat sink, except for the NAS. The total endurance rating is lower than most 2TB TLC drives (740TBW vs 1200TBW), but my applications are not pounding these with writes. Health on all drives is 100% with no errors or bad sectors. Yes, these are slower than a 990 Pro or SN850X. Do I care? No. I use with a usb to NVMe adapter on my arcade and the other devices only support PCIe gen 3 anyway. At idle/ low use, these stay around 32-37C. That's 10 degrees less than my other gen 4 drives. Would be perfect for a laptop. I hope to buy more if there is ever another sale.
