It worked well for me, last year and this year. Our edible garden is organic so I wanted to choose an organic seed starting soil too. It is slightly damp when you open the bag, but will dry out fairly soon (if that is what you want) by leaving the bag slightly open. It is fine and friable enough for new seedlings to sprout. I have not had an issue with soil compaction or the soil getting too wet and drowning the newly sprouted seedlings. It seems to provide a good balance of dampness and good drainage. The seedlings have sprouted consistently and grown quickly in this soil mix.
