Review: I've got an especially (overly) complicated setup and this works very well, I'm using it in a custom bathroom lighting setup and use a 12v motion sensor which activates this device, which connects to a 12v rotary dimmer and then to LED tape. I wasn't sure the dimmer would work properly in concert with this device, but it does. I use the dimmer to set the maximum level, most often at full, but occasionally lower in the evening. I don't get any unusual behavior, though obviously when reducing the range, the fade is less pronounced. Only complaint is that, at least on the unit I have, the speed button is hard to push. Cons There is one draw-back .. this unit does not have a true sleep mode where it draws little to no power .. but it's still low enough for use in automotive applications. If the dimmer you received has two triggers wires (blue and yellow) then yours is the new version. They both are with p/n 3988. The new version works exactly same and has same waterproof capability as the old version, except a low trigger added. The low trigger gives you an alternative option to trigger LED lights by a ground signal. Both new and old version DO NOT use relays but IC (solid state circuit) to generate PWM signal for dimming. **Q: How do i wire this to a pir motion sensor? i'm guessing i would need a relay of some sort?** A: You don't need a relay as long as your PIR motion sensor is with positive trigger output.
