I thought I had some recollection that the rug was machine washable but it ruined the texture of the fur. **Q: Is the backing material synthetic or is it animal hide? A lot of the other ones on Amazon seem to have suede backing.** A: The product is entirely synthetic. I’d recommend a no slip runner if you have hardwood or stone/tile floor. **Q: Does it shed alot?** A: Yes it does. I have had my for 48 hours and it is shedding on my light color rugs.
