I wanted to be able to add some filters to my camera and this adapter lets me do that. It is long enough that the camera lens does not hit the filter. It is also very secure and does not wobble at all. Very solid product. Review: The only way to add a filter to a Nikon Coolpix L820 - I am a nature photographer as a hobby to all the hiking I do & I had been wanting a Digital SLR Nikon forever but could never afford to spend that much on a camera, then finally Nikon made a Coolpix L820 model that looks like an SLR, but the lens is fixed to the camera body & the lens also doesn't allow for a filter of any kind, so if your lens gets scratched, it is ruined. So this Metal Lens filter adapter tube allows you to be able to put a polarizer & lens cap, which is exactly what I wanted to do. This filter adapter tube has tiny pegs which tighten down on the outer part of the lens housing on the camera with simple allen wrenches that is included with the adapter. The lens adapter ring is metal & durable but it does not mount that tightly to the camera lens, it only connects in 2 points on the sides. I think that if it connected in 4 places that it wouldn't move up & down if you touch it. I was just not that comfortable cranking down on my new camera with some metal pegs to attach this thing. The adapter ring screws off/on in the middle, so it can be used as a zoom lens tube or widescreen lens tube. I do love that someone made a 'fix' for Nikons inability to make a threaded end to the lens to affix a polarizing filter, but this gadget is limited to the makings of Nikon and the lens tube will be in the actual shot (photo) if you take a widescreen (zoomed out) shot with the telephoto adapter attachment on the lens. When you have the widescreen (half adapter) attached to the lens, if you zoom out too much, the lens will hit the end of the filter & read an error. When this happens, all you have to do is turn the camera off & back on. You just have to get a feel of how to use this & the limitations. I actually lost the telephoto half of the ring & now have only the widescreen tube, but both tubes equally work with a filter & lens cap of any type (62mm) & I find that this is all I need anyway & that when I zoom into a shot, the lighting is at dusk or dawn or shadows (animals in the wilderness), so the camera actually takes a nice shot without the polarizer on it. So, Yes I am happy to be able to use a polarizer on my new Nikon Coolpix SLR fixed lens, but the constant screwing & unscrewing from telephoto to widescreen was annoying, so I usually only shoot wide, or I take off the filter, leaving the tube on it, then the lens will zoom right through the tube with no problems, so you never have to take it off, just the filter you add. Really wasn't sure if it would work since she has the nikon L810 which doesn't have the capability to add lenses....and it did!
