Review: I'm always on the look out for less toxic detergents and this not only fit the bill, but delivers in a big way. There's no film, no chemical smell on dishes, everything sparkling and squeaky clean, including the dishwasher itself. Before when I used popular dishwashing soaps, I had to run from time to time circle with special tablet that cleaned the dishwasher and got rid of smell, so appliance can perform better; not need for additional maintenance with this product. No smell, no residue, just clean, safe dishes and machine. As you can see, my flatware is gold plated. I have it since 5 years; I run dishwasher daily and using this product through years was gentle enough to clean but not strip coating from it, I think it does speak for itself. I started my journey with the Ecover dishwasher tablets but one day they got out of stock so I ordered the powder. Both deliver same, amazing results, so I buy whichever is on sale; really can't imagine anyone to be disappointed by this product.

I only use natural and toxic free product, so won't be able to compare any of the cascade brands etc. I can tell you, amongst method, seventh gen, Eco liquid, 365 market brand - I have tried all of these brands and for our type of food and dishwasher and water (texas hard water with softener at home) this dishwasher detergent stands out! I tried their tabs as well with the citrus scent and actually found the dishes very clean. So, this time for a better deal - I bought the 8 pack of powder. I fill only half the dishwasher detergent in the dispenser and some hydrogen peroxide in the rinse acid. We dishwash in the machine daily. I used to have to use the "tough" and "proscrub" setting with other brands, but is use the "normal" / "eco" mode. My son who is very sensitive to smells/odors comments on how clean the silverware looks while eating his morning cereal and now even helps me unload the dishwasher since it's actually pleasant and most importantly clean. Thankx for making a great product and don't change the recipe! Update 01/04/2020 I purchased the 8 pack back in May 2018 and now in early 2020 I have finished 7.5 boxes with a half box to spare, I estimate it will last another 3 months. I run the dishwasher 1x per day, everyday with 2 tbsp in each load. I don’t use hydrogen peroxide anymore and occasionally fill the rinse side with vinegar. I don’t use any plastic, mostly have glass, mugs, dishes and steel silverware.

I love using eco friendly and eco packaged products. I hate to leave a poor review for a product that is "clean" but my glasses come out filmy and sometimes not completely clean. The other eco friendly brand I used was a million times better. UPDATE: Wish I had returned the case of this useless product before the return period expired. The more I used this product, the worse my dishes came out. I actually thought my dishwasher was broken. Even on the longest, hottest clean cycles with all the extras (sanitize, high heat wash, pots & pans), my glasses were coming out with a horrible film and there was grit on bowls, in bottoms of glasses and coffee mugs. There were food particles left on dishes. I added a dishwasher booster and even that didn't help. I was complaining to my brother and he handed me some dishwasher tabs and said to try them before I called a repairman. My dishes came out super clean and the more I used them, most of the glass film was reducing each wash. No more dirty dishes, grit, residue... So, now I have BOXES of this ECOVER crap. I even tried putting a scoop in as pre-wash before the good dishwasher detergent and it messes up my glasses. So, I am trying to find an alternate use for it so I don't have to throw it out. I am now using commercial dishwasher detergent, which is not eco-friendly. I feel bad about it, but I can't have dirty dishes and glasses that I am embarrassed to serve to guests AND worry about what I am ingesting with a filmy glass. Don't buy this. Waste of money. Really. Please. Don't. The one thing I will say is that the water where we live is bad. I do have a water softener system though, so that should counteract that issue. And again, the commercial products work fine, leaving dishes clean and glasses clear, so... I have used Melaluca dishwasher liquid and that worked well. Maybe I need to go back to that product since it is supposed to be EcoFriendly... Sorry to bombast a product but if I am going to pay more for an EcoFriendly product than a commercial product that is waaaaaay cheaper, it had better work comparably. Just saying. ECOVER: FIX your horrible product! It's horrible!
