**Q: How long would the magnesium part last.  Which is the magnesium stick?**
A: The magnesium is the silver colour side…. striker is the dark side….
As for life time, I’m a unsure but I would guess around 80-100 uses depending how much Mg you require to start the fire… Very little is needed if you have good dry kindling for your fuel.. I would recommend this tool over most others on the market… Replacement striker and Mg rods are available from the maker if your fire starting activities are frequent..

**Q: Does the striker slide into the orange cover so it's easily accessible?**
A: Yes, too easily though, as I have had it slide out twice without me noticing.
