Of course the kiddos had no problem figuring it out and they absolutely love their "Big truck". As for assembly, unlike many of the Step2 toys, this came with the screw holes pre-drilled. It took my husband about 1 1/2 hours to assemble it using an electric screw driver (Phillip's) and a socket wrench, and he said this was easier to put together than the Step2 picnic table we purchased at the same time. It provides a lot of fun without taking up a lot of space in our small backyard, and the neutral safari colors look great on the lawn.
