Even in the Edge, honestly. Unless you have a mini van and are going from the very front to the very back, I would say 6 is prob fine. The longer ones are very cumbersome and my vent adapter actually broke because the longer one got caught under something in the car and pulled it off. I wish I could trade mine for a 6 foot!! **Q: Is this compatible with a Subaru Outback? And, is this truly an effective option?** A: Yes this is a great option. It comes with a square and a round mount, with two zip ties! I love the idea of them, they are fast and secure and can removed without damaging the vent. I bought a 10 ft and it's actually the perfect size, the airflow is great. Some air leaks out of the side from the vent but it's good for the person in the front. You can un mount it with one turn. (The main piece stays on) This is great for anyone that doesn't have backseat vents.
