What I do is: I put the item being coated with any of the Howard products, to be exposed to the Sun for several hours per day for about a week. Then I put the item in a warm room such as the garage for about another week or two until the surface of the treated item feels dry to the touch. I then buff the coated surface with a dry paper towel or cloth. Remember, if you sand the surface with the finer grits - 400, 600, 800, finishing off with 1200, you will develop a nice sheen. The wood looked somewhat lifeless before the application. This wax brought out the fine details in the wood and darkened it by just the right amount. There is no tint in this wax blend but it seems to deepen the color that is already present. The wax itself is slightly yellow and very dense (as opposed to liquid). I applied two coats and I really like the effect. It's easy to put on and the excess is easy to remove. I don't know about durability. I'm familiar with beeswax and carnauba in car paint applications only (and these waxes usually don't last very long in harsh outdoor environments). I believe periodical applications would be necessary for something going outdoors but it should last a long time on indoor furniture. I like the fact that there is no artificial or chemical scent. It has a slight smell to it but it's very subtle and I like it. No fumes. No need to wear a mask or apply outdoors. I'm really glad I found this product.
