Now, my time with Perlin started with discussion of his early career, but moved to current events and other small talk, thus much of this book is new to me. It's as if someone transcribed chats with the favorite uncle, and he told all the stories your parents would blanch at. (Making them even more memorable.) Gay or straight, these are stories that deserve to be heard. They are the story of a remarkable man and his extraordinary life, during a pivotal time in American history, as well as the history of American Art.
