An infielder is going to use a smaller 11-11.5” glove because it’s easier to get it from the mitt and into their hand to make a quicker throw. But if you’re playing catch with your kid, that isn’t a factor. Most gloves are 12” and it’ll work fine for pretty much anything unless your hand is either really small or really big. **Q: How Do You Soften This?** A: The old way was to put 3 balls in the pocket, use a rope to secure it and dunk it in a bucket of water overnight. Let it dry for a few days then use shave cream with Lanolin in it and slather it on liberally. The bottom line is this a great backyard, recreational glove to play catch with or use for some recreational baseball or softball and it is more important to get the size that fits your hand size.
