I suffered from anxiety in my 40's that got much worse as I got further into peri-menopause and began having more "typical" symptoms. In my case, this fluctuating and worsening anxiety was definitely due to fluctuating, and eventually declining, hormones . Low dose birth control pills did not help me feel better and now I realize that that was because synthetic hormones affected me very differently than the bioidentical hormones. Using this book as a guide to work with my OB/GYN to find the safest methods of HRT has been incredibly helpful . Even with bioidentical hormones, the delivery methods as well as dosages are important to understand. I am so grateful to Dr. Johnson for writing this unique and well-researched book. Unlike many of the other books out there, she gives readers most of the details they need to effectively navigate all the confusing HRT methods and choices. This book has made it possible for me to advocate for my own health. If you cannot consider HRT due to your health history, however, then this is not the book for you. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I learned SO much!! *by C***N on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2019* Dr. Johnson helped me to understand the hormones at work in my body. It angers me the way the medical profession in general is so dismissive of and ignorant of the health needs of wonen. It especially troubles me how they do a disservice to women by promoting the use of synthetic hormones, which are detrimental to women, instead of promoting hormones which are identical to those our bodies produce and which improve our health.
