I decided to try adding about 4 drops of some 75w-140 that a happened to have on my shelf, after that I could hear the pump sucking! This is something in all honesty I will probably only use 6 times a year at most so didn't want to break the bank on a high dollar one. After looking at several models, this one seemed to be a great balance between functionality and price point. Was pleasantly surprised how sturdy/heavy the gun is and had no problem at all loading it and getting pretty thick grease flowing. I did tape the threaded connections with teflon just as insurance to help keep things neat. First use was on a sliding van door and the gun allowed me to reach deeper into the door's track than I could ever get.
