Due to the very low price, I was expecting it to be on the flimsy side, I was totally wrong, it is very well made and handled breaking down larger chunks of ice with ease. Its design is both compact and stylish. I could not differentiate which end the ice pick was at, both ends of the wood ice pick are identical. What I did was to use a Sharpie Marker, which can be purchased right here on Amazon and put a dot on the bottom of where the ice pick is located . This way, you won't be embarrassed in front of your guests when unscrewing the cap. It has a little weight to it, which is good, it's very sturdy. When the ice pick is locked in its wooden handle, it resembles a fine cigar, the gold ring around the center, is a classy touch. I couldn't see the break line where the ice pick locks into the wooden handle on the gold ring.
