I like the chewiness better than the creaminess of oatmeal or oat bran. Great in place of rice. About 1 cup groats. Rinse well in water. Add about 4-5 cups fresh water. 1 tsp of salt. We have been buying her kibble for a couple years before I looked at the ingredients. When I saw the about of junk that is being put into dog food, I decided to begin making my own. To be sure her nutritional needs are met, I began adding eggshell powder, cod liver oil, and these organic oat groats. They came packaged in a zip bag making it convenient to use and store! I love that they are organic too. I did not notice any dirt or mold like some people did. They were pretty clean. She doesn't even notice them in her food so they must taste good. It gives her soft food some bulk. It takes about an hour to cook the groats and it mixes right in. I've noticed her energy level is much improved. I'm glad I found it and it's not expensive. I only use about a cup in 2 pounds of organic beef.
