The train is nicely finished, attractive, and all of the features work. It is not designed for rough play, it is more decorative than an actual toy, but that is what we bought it for. Worth the money, and our grandson will get a kick out of seeing it circling the tree. It can be set up using a circular track as it is in my picture. If you have more room, you can set it up as an oval. It does have small parts that will break off in young hands, so be aware of that it will require adult supervision with little ones around.

I bought this train this Christmas for my 3 year old & 18 month old grand daughters, since I have one underneath my Christmas tree and they didn’t, so my oldest wanted one too. I was pleased to see the train was actually bigger than I expected and stayed on the track perfectly for two little girls playing around it. Actually much better than my own train that’s much more expensive. The light worked as well as the whistle. It wasn’t actually turned on much while I was there since we were opening gifts and busy doing other things, however my daughter says it has a burning smell but she can’t say she ever actually saw any smoke come from the smoke stack so I can’t comment on that. My train plays Christmas carols and this one doesn’t; they didn’t know the difference and obviously didn’t seem to mind. I also had my trail running underneath my tree, whereas for some reason, there Dad had theirs set up beside their tree instead? Possibly because he thought if it were underneath their tree it might be too dangerous with them playing with it; and/or underneath the tree, they might turn the tree over; also they had gifts and Santa to put underneath their tree and we didn’t. Makes a difference when you have little ones in your house I suppose. Overall I was very pleased with my purchase and my two little grand daughters were both happy; which was the most important thing. So I was happy my purchase. We’ll have to wait and see how it holds up next Christmas. Lol?!

I gave 4 stars because it’s a cute set, especially for the price. It gets 3 stars for durability and thickness because one can tell it’s not super durable and the plastic isn’t thick. But it is also a $30 set compared to a quality one at $300. With care, there’s no reason the set won’t last for many years to come. But one must still baby it.As per my video, I do have a good deal of displeasure with this particular set and that is why I returned it. But this is mostly on Amazon for not checking the item before sending it out. It was a returned item listed as a damaged box, but new otherwise.Sadly, even though everything did look pretty new, there were only 5 out of 16 tracks in the box.As well, the wheel mounts in the boxcars were stuck. I didn’t bother to see if I could make them work since it was obvious I’d be returning the item. Thus, I assumed they’d work and rated it with 4 stars. Had I verified they didn’t work, I’d have given it 2 stars.All in all, I’ll probably buy this next year near Christmas. I just will buy a new instead of damaged box version. There was no point in exchanging the train this year as it would not have made it for Christmas. Had it been whole, though, I’d have enjoyed it a lot.

Have owned many Christmas trains from Amazon ..this one was the most disappointing of the lotTrack assembly connectors are tricky . My original review mentioned that the light, music and sound wasn't working. Well as suspected I had one of the six (6) batteries in the wrong way. Once I fixed the issue, this train arrived at the station in all its splendor. The light,train sounds, smoke, and Christmas music all work perfectly. We took a video of the Christmas Train circling our tree and sent it to our eight (8) grandchildren (Ages 11 to 1) and put a lot of smiles on their faces. Although just plastic, the colors are vibrant, the graphics are eye catching and the design is pure holiday fun. Great product!

I originally gave this train set a 4 star but now that I have used it consistently, I have some issues:1) It didnt need directions for assembling the train tracks, simply lock the rails together. However, it takes a long while to fit them together.2) Originally, I was not getting any Christmas music and the light was dim at the top of the train. I later had to read through many Comments, in order to figure out that the issue was HOW to put in the batteries. There should a leaflet explaining all this!3) There is NO switch to adjust the Volume, it is very LOUD. I take it off after 5 minutes, the train noise can give you a headache. Put in a volume switch in newer model.4) For some reason the train keeps coming off the tracks, it has to be absolutely, perfectly centred on the tracks, God forbid it shifts! Then you are constantly having to readjust it!. Very tiring, so i usually run it for 5 minutes and stop.5) The smoke can be tough to handle as well. I advise not getting too close and avoid inhaling the smoke too deeply.

Build Quality issues, sounds works then does not work...very loud when it does. Unless it's for a one-time event... pay extra and get a better brand
